The connection between the kingdom and the city on the roman square
Although the municipal square is designed in a monumental way, it historically served as a market of vegetables and wheat (standing on the area of the Roman Forum). Furthermore, an arcade axis, designed by Benedetto Alfieri in the mid-1700s, visually connects the Town Hall in Piazza Castello. Today the square, illuminated during the festivities by "Luci d'Artista", is a meeting point, for the town hall and for a resumption of the food market, now selling regional products.
