Historic maneuvering place of maritime goods on the mainland and a symbol of the city/port
Since the Middle Ages, a multiform compact and arcaded façade faces the sea, from which Palazzo S. Giorgio stands out for its position and role. The square defines a peculiar place: the historic "loading" point of docked ships, the core of the land to sea transportation system and of the efficient work of the "camalli" (dockworkers).
