From the early 1950s, the debate on the design of a museum "dedicated" to the archaeological finds of the Piedmontese collection highlighted the need to create a real building located in a more visible and important position. The project designed by the architects, on the other hand, has focused on a more invisible location, aimed at emphasizing - through the hypogeum path - the "archaeological dimension" (the underground one), intended as a subsoil that restores the remains of antiquity over time. This choice has led to a rather complex, long and delicate process of approval.
