It was ideated by Gilodi e Riccio in 1841, thanks to G.Maggia and the brothers Albertazz. Firstly it was known as "Piccolo Teatro Popolare di Torino".There were: a gallery, a proscenium and a large stalls area. It was born in the Turin suburb, when the city was rapidly growing. It was not an English Renaissance theatre; in fact wealthy people were in the pit.
