The Spina 2 project is part of the broader framework of the urban transformation project called Spina Centrale, which involved four large disused industrial areas of the city of Turin called: Spina 1, 2, 3 and 4. The aim of the Spina Centrale project was to be in continuity with the plan of 1995 developed by Gregotti and Cagnardi and respond to the need to revive and renew the city after the industrial crisis. For 2 Spina, in particular, has excelled the idea of a more elaborate project aimed at revitalizing an area of the city that after the construction of the new Porta Susa station has acquired new centrality in the structure of the city.
