The reform of the academy

Juvarra, commissioned by the Duke, redesigns the Castellamonte project of the Great Royal Academy, and inserts a theater on the west sleeve, overlooking Piazza Castello. Juvarra's hypothesis is much simpler and more modest than that developed at his death by Alfieri, with the audience opening directly to the ground floor, with a small foyer on the portico of the Piazza.
