The religious center of the city, prior to all the Royal buildings that surround it.
A knot of history: the Cathedral was born on early Christian basilicas, next to the Roman theater, that was rebuilt in the Renaissance and so remains, while next to it was built the Royal Palace. Between the two is set the chapel of the Shroud, and on the theater stretches the "new Channel" of the Palace.
