A cathedral with adventurous history, among Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque, between France and Italy and the power of the Church and the City.
Symbol of the ancient city, recognizable by the asymmetrical façade, with black and white stripes and the powerful Gothic portals, rare in Italy. Together with the Palazzo Ducale complex, it constitutes the institutional compendium of the city, now in the center but in the early Middle Ages on the northwest edge of the walls. The interior presents the monumental traces of a complex history, of continuous transformations from the XII to the XIX century.
