Some historical hypotheses

Some historians suppose that around 1100 this church was a Benedictine priory dependent on the Abbey of Fruttuaria. However, there are no documents attesting to the existence of the building until the last quarter of the century when the church and the priory were transferred from the Benedictines to the canons of the Hospice of Santi Nicolao and Bernardo di Monte Giove.
