The exteriors of the church are typically in black and white stripes with various Gothic elements, such as the pilasters framed by small arches. In the centre, a large rose window is surrounded by two single lancet windows. Above the entrance, the medieval mosaic depicting Saint Matthew is eye-catching. The saint, represented in his classic half-bust iconography, is against a golden background with his name written on it.
