The restoration: end of 1800

In 1888 Alfredo D'Andrade, in charge of the restoration of the church, began a work of recognition of the original structure, peeling off the plaster, interpreting the signs of past interventions and deciding to rebuild parts that in his opinion had been canceled or altered. In the "projects" chapter, the reasons and choices of D'andrade are studied in depth, on the basis of his drawings.

In the photo the façade during the works of 1884, with the large window which D'Andrade will then reduce to a rose window, and the splayed portal, to which the porch of the prothyrum will be added.
