Fascinating wounds

The façade tells the story of the church, with the recent restoration that highlights its wounds and substantial conservation. In particular, it is clear that the roof has been redone and repositioned (destroyed twice by bombing in 1684 and 1943), that the medieval rose window was replaced, one meter lower, by a large window (practiced in the wall of the transept left free by the lowering of the redone roof of the nave) that increases the light inside.

The photo frames the façade starting from the portal threshold, located above a ramp of 7 steps, leaving only a glimpse of the arches of the three oldest arcosolium tombs, at the level of the underground ossuaries located inside the church.
