A baroque perspective telescope

Moving from Piazza Castello or from the opposite Piazza Statuto, a baroque scenography is created thanks to the perspective telescope designed by the facades. This scenography was anticipated by the Theatrum Sabaudiae and realized by the court architects giving the city a sense of absolute power. Particularly Juvarra had already forseen, conceiving the Palazzo Madama facade, the perspective escape of the street that crosses the old town, centered on the backdrop with the Palace (hub of the entire urban structure).

The painting of Bossoli (1847), housed in the Gam of Turin, shows the Corpus Domini procession on the baroque stage of via Dora Grossa which have generally remained unchanged.
