The anonymous sign of the Roman walls

On the corner between via Garibaldi and via della Consolata there is a singular granite slab surrounded by thick chains. There are those who believe it is a tomb and who, without asking too many questions, park the bikes. Very few know that those are the remains of an ancient city wall dating back to the sixteenth century. At the beginning, the site was left exposed to the public and covered with a glass plate. But it wore out quickly and was replaced with a granite slab, which, however, does not allow us to see anything that hides. The license plate has also disappeared, so the site remains a real mystery for those passing by.
