An ancient centrality

While Piazza Castello is completely eccentric in relation to the ancient city (being founded on one of the Roman gates) Piazza Erbe maintains the position of the Roman Forum, central to the "square" city, which remains until the urban extensions towards the South and East do not unbalance the urban system, centering it more on Piazza Castello.

From the view of the Borgonio, on which the Theatrum sabaudiae is based, one can clearly read the central role of the ancient city occupied by the Piazza delle Erbe and the Palazzo di Città which overlooks it.
