Raffaele Rubattino, the shipowner of Garibaldi

Rubattino was a well-known Genoese shipowner, a friend of Cavour, with whom he planned in the midle of 1800s navigation networks in the Mediterranean, then developed over the following decades. Convinced patriot, he provided Garibaldi with the ships for the expedition of the Mille in 1860 (a letter from Garibaldi exonerates him, taking responsibility for a "theft"), as he had given to Pisacane in 1857 for his unfortunate adventure.
