A breach in the wall

In order to realize the "sea ring-road" around 1880, it is necessary to exit from the walls that connect Porta Soprana with Porta Siberia, the walls of the Marina on the hill of Castello with those of Malapaga, on the Pier. They are demolished at the eastern bottom of Piazza Cavour, but you still don't want to interrupt the path of the drain on the top of the wall, which remains connected for a few years with a walkway that crosses the new bypass to the sea.

The photo of the early 1900s, shows on the left the Bathing Institute, which is then replaced by the fish market in 1934, the walkway and the tent of the room in the port of the Marina, still existing today.
