Piazza del Molo, before Cavour
The square acquired its current title in 1862. Up to then, Piazza del Molo, near to the docks of the Mandraccio, to the outlet of the street of the Pier, carries the goods from the ships moored to the descent of the Old Pier. It has always been a part of the city in the service of Port and vice versa.
In the photo, at the end of the 19th century, the attack of the Via del Molo from the Piazza. In the corner building you can see the arches of the loggia on the ground floor, which the subsequent restoration has brought to light.
