Juvarra's project, the first royal architect, is concentrated in the northwest of the city. The two main routes are identified, the road that was an extension of the Porta Susina (current streets Corte d'Appello and Carmine) and that of Porta Palazzo towards the external route to Milan (current via Milano). Ideally continuing the checkerboard design of the urban structure, Juvarra leads the two axes towards the center, seat of power, in a compositional design where the building and urban dimensions are perfectly integrated.
In the scheme are highlighted with darker backgrounds the three extensions (clearer the "square city" of Roman plant), as well as the main urban directions towards the doors and the "political" center consists of Piazza Castello.
