The axis of the Dora Grossa district in the Juvarrian project

After 1736, the years of the great works on the blocks of the district Dora Grossa begin and the renovation of the existing medieval fabric remains to be completed. The delay in the implementation of the rehabilitation project in Via Dora Grossa is due to economic issues, although Juvarra had already predicted, many years before, the street centered on the Palace of the Sovereign: in 1718 he designed the front of Palazzo Madama, calculating proportions and measures of the future urban axis.

View of the district of 1775. Note the strong sign of the Civic Tower, at the height of the City Palace and the domes of the different churches that emerge from the clear line of the homogeneous heights of the buildings, imposed by the royal edict.
