The edge of the ancient city

A free space that has always played a fundamental role in a dense city like Genoa. Due to its size, it is historically the square of the most cumbersome activities: from the equestrian rides or from the people's assemblies to the processions. Due to the development of flat areas of the city, far from the sea, today the square is the meeting point of the neighborhood, connected to the city also by the metro station.

In the image (Google Maps) both the size of the public space (obtained only in the 1900s with bombings and demolitions) and the position on the edge of the ancient city along the walls are evident.
