Via Po Torino

The diagonal course of the street is an exception to the traditional orthogonal plan of the ancient city, due to several factors: the shape of the fortification (determined by the presence of the slope towards the Dora river); the need to connect the Castle with the existing bridge over the Po; the will to maintain the Church of San Francesco da Paola and the convent of the Friars, already existing. The great urban void created with the construction of the new city walls is an extraordinary opportunity to transform the city.
