Via Giulia becomes Via XX Settembre

Via Giulia, the forerunner of the current Via XX Settembre, is named after its designer Giulio Della Torre who designed it in 1650. The street became the major thoroughfare of the city: it started from Piazza San Domenico (the current De Ferrari) up to the area of Via Porta Degli Archi (area of Ponticello). The street linked the center with the countryside which started where the Monumental Bridge is situated today.
