Concessions and enlargements
The concessions of the Kingdom of Sardinia led to an expansion of the area. On the north side, the San Domenico complex was demolished to leave room for the Carlo Felice theatre while the profile of the buildings was studied to leave space for the Accademia Ligustica. On the opposite side of the square, other demolitions and removals went to create the space on which new buildings have arisen
