The arrival of the basin
Positioning the tank was difficult. Built by the Tirreno foundries in one piece, the central basin did not pass through the alleys surrounding the square. Therefore, it was taken to the river mouth and then loaded onto a pontoon and pulled by a tractor along via XX Settembre. On April 23, 1936 the tank was inaugurated and warmly welcomed by the citizens.
The basin in the '70s, still at the core of Genoese life. Traditionally, coins were tossed in the fountain for good luck.
