The daily life
The railway built at the end of the 19th century stopped between the Sottoripa and the area in front of the Palace San Giorgio: the station handling of goods arriving from the northern Italy made the area a swarming of workers moving through docks and shops.
A 1896 picture shows the commercial purpose of the Sottoripa where the goods arriving by land and by sea are stored.
