A sign of the regime
On the square, there is a striking sign: the Torre Littoria. It was designed specifically to "decorate" one of the main landmarks of the city with the sign of the "new that advances". See, for the history and the project of the Tower, the dedicated file.
The postcard, from the late 1930s, sums up the rhetoric of the time, presenting the war monument together with the tower, symbol of progress. Two thousand years of history told by the square there is no trace.
