The dockers and the cotton

Among the Genoa trades, the most important is the cotton trade: for ages the raw material of Genoa is required for any national fabric to the point that big Warehouses of Cotton are created on the edge of the larger dock of the old Molo.

The cotton disembarkation at the old Molo, 1902. A crane takes the bales directly to the wagon: an efficiency revolution compared to the hand-loading of the dockers until 1800
