A false historical passage

The urban transformations that this part of the city has undergone create an interesting landscape, where the archetypal image of the ancient walls that separate the city from the undeveloped countryside seems to be confirmed. In reality, this situation in Genoa never existed: when the walls of Barbarossa were completed in the valley of the Rio Torbido (where today two levels of tunnels pass under the business center) the area was not deserted but already quite settled, and within some decades it was filled with buildings with density similar to those inside the walls.

In the picture from Google Earth in red the path of the walls with the block that incorporates them preserved, in blue the section that was freed from the buildings around 1975.
