The city incorporates the door

The much feared Barbarossa never comes to besiege Genoa, and in the following centuries the military clashes of the Genoese take place in the open sea. Anyway, the fear of the enemy from the ground is strong and from the end of the thirteenth century a wall that passes through Carignano and Acquasola renders those of Barbarossa useless. In the meantime, the city has developed beyond the ancient walls and houses are being built using them as a base.

In the 1656 map of Brusco, the route of the walls has disappeared and towards Rio Torbido the city has expanded very densely, with blocks elongated according to the contour lines, to allow constructions on the steep slope
