The umbrella pillars
A simple structure, fast realization and immediately legible, inside as well as outside. Each "umbrella" consists of a tapered central pillar over 20 m high and a radius of prefabricated steel halo and is separated from the neighbor by a glazed strip.
The main innovation of Nervi's project: the building as a machine, to be mounted in a serial manner. The execution of the project is assigned to Fiat, whose technicians collaborate in the executive phase of the design
