The original design

Since the plans of Amedeo of Castellamonte (1674), next to the Royal Academy there were a riding school and a stable "made in the form of a cross". In the following years the connecting sleeve ends, then the other three arms, and finally the sleeve on via Verdi (then revised on a project by Juvarra) were finished. At the end of the century the structure of the stables and of the Cavallerizze (ie the covered stables) was completed towards the Po.

The view of the Theatrum Sabaudiae indicates, on the lower left, the complex of the Royal Academy and of the Cavallerizza according to the project of Amedeo di Castellamonte, under construction at that time.
