La Cappella della Sindone Torino

The altar was designed by the architect Antonio Bertola who adapted it to the circular shape of the chapel thus creating two fronts - one facing the Cathedral and the other facing the Royal Palace - with the large urn of the Shroud in the center. The altar is made of black marble, enriched with decorations and sculptures in gilded wood. It still bears the signs of the devastating fire that affects the chapel.
