The project was based on the idea of the Shroud as an extreme testimony of the mystery of the Redemption, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Architecture itself therefore becomes the experience to "ascend into death" to the light of divine glory. Guarini himself explains that the dark color chosen for the flooring reinforces the feeling of "going up within the earth". Rising also the color lightens thanks to the numerous lights.
