Of Caro Cattaneo from Ada Peyrot, Vittorio Viale, Immagini di Torino nei secoli, Torino 1973
During the 5th century the bishop Massimo commissioned the construction of a church with a chapel dedicated to Saint Andrea, where the image of the Vergine was venerated. The chapel was destroyed and the reliquary got lost but, at the beginning of the 11th century, during the restoration, the image was miraculously found. In the following centuries the church got larger under the administration of the monks of Novalesa first, of the Benedettini in the 15th century and then of the Cistercians. What remains of the St Andrea church is the Romanic campanile which was recently renovated.
