In 1695, the sumptuous marriage of Count Ottavio's daughter, Elena Matilde, to Marquis Gerolamo Falletti di Barolo was celebrated in the family palace. The couple lived in the palace with their children and the Provana counts until they finally broke up due to the violent disagreements between their son-in-law and father-in-law. Gerolamo was expelled from the palace by his father-in-law and, probably for this reason, Elena, aged just 26, committed suicide by throwing herself out of her bedroom window. In 1743 Elena's eldest son, Ottavio Giuseppe, commissioned Benedetto Alfieri to carry out major restoration work on the building. In 1756, a new sleeve towards Piazza Susina was built, destined to be used as an income house. In 1906 the façade on Via Corte d'Appello was modified to widen the street.
