A cathedral shrouded by royal palaces

The church, on very ancient bases, is progressively surrounded by the Palaces of Savoy power, so much so that today they seem to have incorporated it into a single complex. But the visitor, who walks among the squares, still clearly perceives the space belonging to each of the two areas (religious and civil) thanks to the filter formed by the Chiablese Palace, which separates the view of the church from that of the Palace.

In the photo, from google earth of 2016, the Shroud still encapsulated in the scaffolding of the very long restoration, it seems the center around which all the architecture of the complex revolves
