Perchè proprio Orbassano?

The name of Orbassano seems to go back to the interpretation of the motto placed under the band of the municipal coat of arms: "Orbis Sanus": healthy city. Some historians have advanced the hypothesis that in reality the name of Orbassano does not derive from the famous motto, but from the name of a certain "Urbicius", a Roman legionary who settled there for his "centuriation". It then passed to "Vicus Urbanicum", to "Orbacianum" around the thousand, to "Orbazan" in the centuries between the '500 and the' 600 to then definitively transform into the "Orbassano" of our days.
