Mole Antonelliana Torino

In February 1888 Alessandro Antonelli decided to put on the spire a "Genio Alato"(a winged genius/angel), one of the symbols of the Savoia family. It was commissioned to sculptor Fumagalli. The Genio Alato weighed 300 kg and it was made in gilded embossed copper, in one hand he held a spear and in the other a palm branch, on his head there was a small five- point star. It was placed in April 1889.
