Mole Antonelliana Torino

Originally the Mole Antonelliana was supposed to be a synagogue. In 1863, in fact, when the constuction works started, king Carlo Alberto had just granted the religious freedom and the Hebrew community wanted to build a temple in the city. This didn't happen because Alessandro Antonelli made too many changes to the project: all of them were about the rising of the building to a height of 113 meters, 47 meters over the original project. The many changes also caused an increase in the construction costs.
