The restorations (beginning of 1900s)
At the beginning of the 20th century, due to the serious deterioration of one of the city's symbolic images, the ministry decided to restore the building and commissioned D'Andrade, the greatest Italian architect in the field of restoration, according to the reconstruction criteria and more or less inventive integration then in vogue. Pogliaghi was in charge of "restoring" the decoration of the façades to resume the architectural layout and the original iconography.
For the restoration of the now illegible frescoes were used canvases and lithographs from the mid-1800s.
