During 1700s the palace was surrounded by buildings
With the walls towards the Port, some buildings of storage and warehouses on the sides, for almost three centuries Palazzo S. Giorgio has no space and must be noticed only thanks to the decorated façade, especially in the upper part, which protruded from the walls and it was visible from ships.
The map of Genoa of Brusco (1766) highlights the clogging of the city near the walls that come directly to the docks.
