From the 15th century until 1970, the crypt, dedicated to the Madonna, hosted a statue in painted marble of the Madonna with the Child who was eating some red berries. Thanks to a restoration executed between the 18th and 19th centuries, the statue has its original color again. Finally, the statue is currently kept in the church of Candia.
The statue "Madonna and Child" of Santo Stefano al Monte was attributed to Jean De Prindall and it was built between 1405 and 1415.
