The "Lombard" taste

In the different phases of building and restoration of the church, what have been identified as salvaged materials such as some decorative elements and Roman bricks, that d'Andrade had sent from Ivrea, were observed. These types of material, together with the irregular masonry made up mostly of river pebbles, and a few bricks laid in a herringbone pattern, suggest a revival of the Lombard architectural model, understood not as Lombardy but as the Kingdom of the Lombards.

The circular terracotta bricks in the outer walls, similar to those on the 4th floor of the bell tower, are some of the reused materials used in the construction and decoration of the church.
