Riserva naturale Le Vallere Moncalieri

The name "Le Vallere" derives from the name that the French gave to the embankments built in 1541, at the time of the first French occupation of Piedmont. The area in fact is mentioned for the first time with the name "Les Valleres" in a mountain map, written in the seventeenth century. In 1706, during the siege of Turin by the French, the Vallere area was the scene of clashes between the French and Piedmontese troops. Ancient maps show the dislocation of agricultural land and of the farmhouse, built at the end of the eighteenth century, which still today is located a few dozen meters from the entrance of the park.
