During the Second World War
The buildings of the Santa Croce block comprised between della Basilica street, Porta Palatina street and Cesare Augusto square were damaged by several bombings between December 1942 and August 1943. The Mauriziana Basilica, located between Milano street and della Basilica Street was slightly damaged during the airstrike of 13th July 1944.
