The perspective axis of Palazzo di Città street
The project of the architect Francesco Lanfranchi for the Palazzo del Comune, commissioned in 1659, provided for a radical revision of the previous construction aimed at ennobling its shape and appearance, and connecting it in perspective, according to a new structure in line with the "Strada nova" (via Palazzo di Città), traced in 1619 to a design by Ascanio Vitozzi (1539-1615), to connect piazza Castello to piazza delle Erbe.
