First electric lighting

A dazzling light, never imaginable before then, illuminated the monument on the evening of the inauguration May 8, 1853. It was the first public experiment of electric light attempted in Turin of which Enrico Federico Jest was the author. Little known, he produced the first Italian camera, and translated Louis Daguerre's photography manual. Together with his son he made the instruments for physics, chemistry, optics, for the scientific faculties of the University of Turin, with the title of "machinist of the R. University". His first photo of the city of Turin in 1839.
