Politic and market place of the city
During the following centuries, the square, along with the Corpus Domini one, acquired a commercial vocation. In the medieval period the division between two market areas was characterized: Piazza delle Erbe the current Piazza Palazzo di Città, Piazza del Grano that of Corpus Domini. With the construction and transfer of the stalls in the market of Porta Palazzo, the new entrance of the City, he reacquired the function of a political and civic place of the City of Turin, already covered by the Roman forum.
