Classical Rationalism

Piacentini's architecture, which dovetails international rationalism into the simple and strong materials and geometries (liked by fascist ideology), finds a balanced solution in the small size of the square, perhaps because of the lack of too magniloquent details.

In the postcard (around 1960) "modern" architecture is enhanced by the "night effect", with electric lamps that give depth to the space. The absence of people or traffic that makes spaces solemn.
